My Cup Overflows... Next Steps

 

I had my follow up appointment with the Oncologist this morning to go over my recent PET scan.  In short he said he wants to be diligent which I can appreciate. He said it is about a 50/50 chance it is cancer vs inflammation/infection and there is no way to tell without further tests. 

So, he has ordered an ultrasound and a fine needle biopsy. He thinks I should hear from someone to schedule it by early next week.  He also wants my oncology surgeon to do an endoscopy to just visualize the area in the back of my throat and down my "new" esophagus. I have reached out to my surgeon's office to try to get that scheduled. 

From there, we can make next step decisions. 

So there it is, not what I planned. Not what a wanted to be doing again after JUST finishing all my treatments last month. BUT, I'm also NOT not appreciating the great blessing it is to have access to these tests, interventions, and wonderfully attentive and supportive doctors.
